A report is saying that Apple will drop Google Maps from iOS 6 in favor of its own mapping application. According to 9to5Mac, the new Apple Maps system will look similar to the current Google Maps app on the iPhone or iPad, but that it will be faster, cleaner, and more reliable. Apple recently acquired Placebase, C3 Technologies, and Poly9 to help develop an entirely new mapping database. One of the biggest features to come out of the new iOS Maps app will be the introduction of 3D Mode. Since Apple will be launching its own Maps app, its logo will also get a makeover. It is reported that the new logo will be similar to its current one, but with a completely new color scheme. Additionally, the app will now simply be known as “Maps.” Source: 9to5Mac Related Articles:
