A new BlackBerry PlayBook tablet or two from Research in Motion are looking closer to being released after making their way to the FCC for approval. The two tablets, or one, being approved include support for LTE and HSPA+.

HSPA+ BlackBerry PlayBook

RIM has been promising an HSPA+ capable BlackBerry PlayBook for more than a year now and it looks like there’s a realistic chance that it will be released later in 2012. Perhaps it will be coming to ATT.

The FCC hasn’t revealed much except HSPA+ or LTE connectivity. However, earlier rumors report that the new tablet will see an upgrade to a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor as well as the addition of NFC. A leaked RIM roadmap also showed that the tablets would be release in mid-2012.
